NorDan and Saint-Gobain join forces for more sustainable windows

The NorDan Group joins forces with the leading company in glass technology to advance the industry towards more sustainable low carbon windows and actively contribute to the European Building Performance Directive and the EU Taxonomy!

NorDan Group and Saint-Gobain Poland today announced a strategic partnership aiming to effectively support decarbonization of the construction industry. Using the best knowledge and practices of both companies, for which sustainable development is a critical element of their strategies, NorDan and Saint-Gobain undertake to offer windows with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. NorDan is now actively, with the support of Saint-Gobain, marketing ORAÉ®, GreenTech® and Low Carbon Windows in its key markets of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the UK and Ireland. Saint-Gobain Poland is the leading manufacturing unit for glass within Saint-Gobain, with factories for raw glass (float) and insulated glass units (IGUs).

The partnership was announced at an important event at NorDan’s offices in Poland, NorDan Spolka, with senior representatives from NorDan Group and Saint-Gobain Poland present. From Saint-Gobain: Rafal Jurczyk, Magdalena Piekosz and Remigiusz Ogrodzinski. From NorDan Group: Dag Kroslid, Johannes Rasmussen, Nils Otto Eidem, Kjetil Østereng, Craig Greenwood, Sean Luskin, Trond Magnar Unhammer, Waldemar Ptak, Gillian Irvine, William Murray, Zbigniew Kasprzyk.

Dag Kroslid, NorDan Group CEO said:

Sustainability and innovation go hand in hand. The ORAÉ® solution from Saint-Gobain is a strong innovation in sustainable glass technology and leads the way towards much higher use of glass with recycled content in the building industry. It fits really well with our GreenTech® product offering. I am very pleased that we at NorDan Group have been given the opportunity to partner with Saint-Gobain in using low carbon ORAÉ® glass to deliver low carbon windows to our markets and customers in Scandinavia, the UK, and Ireland.
For me, this is a true example of UN Sustainable Development Goal 17, “Partnerships for the Goals”. In windows from NorDan, glass constitutes more than 50% of the window’s Global Warming Potential (GWP in kgCO2eq). With windows from NorDan using ORAÉ® glass from Saint-Gobain, we most likely offer the best Low Carbon Window Solution (LCWS) currently available in the market. We document the actual effect of our industry-leading EPDs for Windows and will actively engage with our customers to discuss the advantages.

Rafał Jurczyk, General Director, Saint-Gobain Polska said:

A window with a reduced carbon footprint is an important step on the path towards decarbonization of the construction sector. As both companies are committed to act for sustainability, I am glad that today Saint-Gobain Polska is joining forces with NorDan Group. Thanks to this collaboration and combining low carbon glazings integrating ORAÉ® with NorDan wood based window technology, our aspirations for sustainable construction are taking a real shape. This partnership sets a new quality of cooperation in the industry focused on important environmental goals.

Johannes Rasmussen, NorDan Group Chief Marketing Officer:

NorDan has a long tradition of innovation, and from the 1970’s we even produced our own insulated glass units. We are proud of our ability to constantly improve the sustainability in our products, including new glass concepts and solutions. An example is introducing our custom warm edge SuperSpacer in 2007. Now, together with Saint-Gobain Polska, we enter an exciting partnership that will reinforce NorDan’s position at the forefront of energy-efficient and sustainable, low-carbon window solutions.
